6 Things I Stopped Doing In Order To Grow a High Level Brand

The next level of your business requires a different version of you.

So many people talk about what you need to start doing to grow your business … launching your offer, building your funnel, investing in strategy, posting on Instagram five times a week, etc.

But I wanted to touch on some things you might need to stop doing.

In my journey from beginner freelancer to web designer, brand and messaging strategist, and high-level service provider, I hit a point where more “doing” wasn’t the answer. I had to face the fact that there were things I needed to let go of.

Here are 6 things I stopped doing and what happened when I did.

I Stopped Second-Guessing Every Decision

Every pivot doesn’t need a 17-point plan and three weeks of overthinking. At some point, I had to work through my analysis paralysis and stop waiting for perfect clarity and start building confidence through taking action. Imperfect action is better than sitting around waiting for everything to be perfect, because that’s never going to happen. Focus on taking action, not perfection. Growth happens when you take action quicker, fail smarter, and keep going.

Clarity and confidence often follow commitment and action, not the other way around.

I Stopped Letting My Fears Guide Me

Fear never really goes away. The difference is whether or not you let it drive and guide the actions you take (or don’t take).

I learned that I had to take action before I felt “ready.” Because if I waited for ready, I likely never would feel it and never would take action.

I launched new offers before they were perfect or perfectly refined. I raised my prices before someone told me I was allowed to. I stopped waiting for fear to give me permission. I started choosing courage and action anyway.

I Stopped Comparing My Journey to Other People’s Highlight Reels

Even at higher levels of business, comparison is real. It sometimes just gets sneakier. You look around and suddenly feel like you’re behind, doing it wrong, or missing something.

When I started keeping my eyes on my own business and staying in my lane, things started to shift. I had to turn off the outside noise and do what was right for me and my business, not try and copy what others were doing.

When I focused on building a brand that was authentic to me, my brand and message got clearer, my offers got stronger, and I started to enjoy my business again. It’s true what they say: comparison really is the thief of joy.

I Stopped Selling More Than I Served

To be completely honest, at one point in my business I was so focused on marketing and selling my offers and trying to get clients, that I forgot to build connection. And connection, building trust with your ideal clients, is the thing that sells, especially at the premium level.

Now, I do my best to focus on serving, building connections, and providing value. Want to sell more? Start by making people feel seen, heard, and understood.

I Stopped Doing It All Alone

For way too long, I did everything in my business alone. It was a lonely way to try and build a business. At some point I had to stop trying to prove I could do it all by myself, and start building support around me. Coaches. Collaborators. Friends. Systems. People who could help keep me accountable.
We weren’t meant to do life (or business) alone.

I Stopped Talking Myself Out of My Own Power

This one took awhile for me to recognize, but for a long time, I was toning down my message. I didn’t recognize or acknowledge my strengths (or downplayed them). I stayed vague instead of speaking boldly and clearly with confidence about what I do best.

But that’s not leadership. That’s fear in a cute outfit. When I finally decided to own my voice, claim my space, and speak directly to the people I most wanted to serve, everything got easier and way more aligned.

The thing is, you don’t need more hacks or more hustle. Sometimes growing your business means growing out of old habits and thoughts that are holding you back. It means stepping fully into who you are as a brand, a leader, and a CEO and letting go of everything that’s no longer serving the previous version of your business and brand.

My messaging intensive is built for business owners who’ve grown an amazing business, but whose brand hasn’t caught up yet. If you’re ready to step into more confidence, more clarity, and a brand that reflects your next level, I’d love to help. I invite you to book a consult call with me and let’s chat about how I can help you with just that. ❤️
